Hey there! I'm Janee Young, a quirky and compassionate therapist, and I'm all about helping you rock your confidence and find that inner clarity you've been seeking. My journey started by supporting at-risk girls as a camp coordinator – seeing their need for someone who listens, uplifts, and helps them move beyond trauma led me to pursue a Master's degree in Counseling. After which I ventured into various child and family mental health agencies, each with rigid and conventional therapy frameworks. Recognizing the yearning for a more personalized approach, I eventually found my calling in the private practice sector.
With me, therapy is a journey to inner peace and a resilient self. I'm all about positive vibes, and I truly believe that building a strong, respectful relationship with you is the key. Together, we'll knock down mental barriers, embrace mindfulness, and find the happiness and peace you deserve.
My expansive knowledge encompasses Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, family discord, and Suicidal Ideation, with a specialized focus on children, adolescents, young adults, and families.
I’m glad you're here. I specialize in working with adults of all ages navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, stress, PTSD, domestic violence, and major life transitions. I also support people working through self-esteem concerns, body image, identity exploration, relationship struggles, and recovery. I would love to help you better understand yourself and your relationship with other people in your life - even in times of uncertainty.
I’m a people-person at heart, even though I’m a bit of an introvert — and I deeply value genuine connection and building trust with my clients. My goal is to help you build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and create the life you want, one step at a time. I will always make sure you feel safe, supported and comfortable to open up about thoughts you may have never shared with anyone before.
Outside of work, I’m a dog lover (I have a sweet Lab), I love cooking, and I’ll proudly admit I’m a bit of a nerd — cross-stitching and quiet hobbies bring me joy.
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. As a licensed therapist practicing in both California and New York, I believe deeply in the inherent resilience and transformative potential within every individual. I earned my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. Throughout my clinical practice, I have supported clients across all life stages in navigating complex emotional challenges, including trauma, anxiety, and depression, while empowering them to cultivate healthy, fulfilling interpersonal relationships.
I specialize in supporting people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, trauma, life transitions and much more. I have extensive experience working with high acuity teens, and I also work with adults of all ages who are navigating imbalance, self-acceptance uncertainty, or emotional overload. I support parents who need guidance in understanding their child’s needs or simply a calm place to process their own feelings. No matter your age or background, if you are struggling to find balance and peace in life, I am here to help.
My approach begins with the belief that life poses great challenges for all of us. Through these challenges, we develop adaptive patterns that may help us survive but can also bring disharmony. I aim to help you bring awareness to these patterns, loosen their grip, and reshape them so you can find greater balance and harmony in your relationship with yourself, others, and the world.
I’m a licensed therapist with a Master’s in Counseling with an emphasis in Child and Family Therapy, and I’m certified in Perinatal Mental Health. I work with children, adolescents, and families, and I also support moms navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional challenges of early parenthood. I have experience helping with anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, and school-related concerns, and I especially enjoy working with children and pre-teens using play and creative approaches.
As a psychotherapist that have been in practice for 12 years, I believe prioritizing mental health is key to happiness and stability in life. Seeking help can be one of the hardest parts, so congratulations on taking that step!
