I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with experience supporting adults navigating anxiety, stress, and burnout. A lot of the people I work with are high functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, or stuck in cycles of worry and overthinking. You can expect me to be calm, warm, and steady. I’m not going to rush you or pressure you to “perform” being okay. I’m interested in how your life actually works day to day: your responsibilities, culture, family roles, and the ways you’ve been coping, not just a checklist of symptoms. Many of the people I see are used to taking care of everyone else; in our work, it’s allowed to be your turn to be the one who gets supported.
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I provide compassionate and nonjudgmental mental health care for individuals seeking healing, balance, and personal growth. I believe every person’s story is unique, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where my clients feel heard and valued.
My approach is holistic and collaborative — I look at the whole person, not just symptoms, integrating evidence-based treatments with empathy and understanding. Together, we identify meaningful goals and create practical, sustainable solutions that support emotional well-being, resilience, and self-empowerment.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or simply need a safe place to process your thoughts, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Janet “Jan” Yager is a board certified nurse practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience in psychiatric, adult, and family health. I am a double board-certified family and psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner. As a Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I believe that healing begins with understanding. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can share your story without judgment and work toward meaningful, lasting change. I provide individualized, evidence-based care for adults facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorders, ADHD/ADD, and sleep disorders.
I’m a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience working in ICU. My background in critical care shaped how I understand the deep connection between physical and mental health, especially how stress, trauma, and anxiety often show up in the body. I transitioned into psychiatry after witnessing firsthand the emotional toll the pandemic had on patients, families, and healthcare workers. It became clear to me that supporting people’s mental health is just as essential as treating physical conditions.
**Important for New Jersey patients seeking STIMULANT treatment:
Due to New Jersey state regulations, patients prescribed stimulant medications are required to attend an in-person visit at least once every three months. These visits are scheduled at my SoHo office in Manhattan.
Please note that there is a $100 facility fee for in-person visits to cover the cost of the clinical space. This fee is separate from insurance and is due at the time of the visit.**
