I’m Maria, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over twelve years of experience working with families, children, and adults. My work has focused on breaking generational cycles of trauma and navigating challenging life transitions. In my work I have supported individuals and families through growing up, raising their children, and bringing healing and harmony into the home. I am deeply passionate about helping others on their journeys toward personal growth and a better quality of life and consider it a gift to be an agent of change.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also a working mother of a college student and clinically supervise and train other clinicians. This experience gives me a unique perspective and understanding on navigating life transitions and balancing multiple roles.
My approach is warm, affirmative, and solution-oriented – with some humor mixed in. While it can feel intimidating to take that first step, if you are ready, I can guide you in finding areas of strength while also challenging areas for growth in a compassionate way. Together we can work toward healing in a safe environment and create positive change to improve your quality of life.
I work with adults to address challenges related to finding relief from shame and guilt, relationship struggles, depression, anxiety, and inner criticism through self compassion and self understanding. I believe in the transformative power of understanding, connection and healing. I have a Master's degree in Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy and have specialized in trauma work.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist. Throughout my career, I have gained invaluable leadership, clinical, and research experience across various VA healthcare systems, Stanford University School of Medicine, the National Center for PTSD, and both community-based and private practice settings. My professional background includes expertise in psychological evaluation and treatment for stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, career development, relationships, trauma, and recovery from injury.
Grounded in the idea that there's no "right" way a person "should" live, I co-explore possibilities with clients when challenges (such as relationship issues, life transitions, feelings of failure or stuckness) show up.
I am an open‐minded, non‐judgmental therapist who believes healing begins with feeling truly seen and understood. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience. I work collaboratively to help you make sense of the patterns, experiences, and relationships that have shaped your current challenges—gently exploring both the “what happened” and the “why it still affects me.”
My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we’ll explore the connections between past experiences and present emotions, build insight, and develop tools that support meaningful, lasting change.
Option B — Soft, welcoming, and client-centered
Clients often describe me as open‐hearted, non‐judgmental, and deeply empathetic. I believe therapy should feel like a safe place to breathe, reflect, and understand yourself without fear of criticism or shame. I help clients explore the roots of their current struggles—how past experiences, stressors, and relationships may be influencing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors today.
My role is to walk alongside you with compassion and clarity, helping you connect the dots, build insight, and move toward healing at a pace that feels right for you.
