Hi! I'm Alyssa, a Licensed Professional Counselor and registered yoga teacher. I specialize in working with eating disorders, OCD, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I am a trauma-informed psychiatric nurse practitioner with training from Columbia University and Frontier Nursing University. My background includes psychiatric nursing across all levels of care, as well as six years in community health serving underserved and marginalized populations. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, and have extensive experience treating mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and eating disorders, along with psychotic disorders, substance use concerns, and personality-related challenges. My training allows me to integrate medical knowledge, functional and nutritional psychiatry, community services, and psychotherapy to provide comprehensive, personalized care.
Hello! Thank you for taking the brave step in moving forward in your journey of healing. I hope to provide a space for you to process, explore, and find relief with the thoughts and feelings that have led you to seek support.
I believe we are all capable of growth and wellness. My goal is to offer you a safe place to come and work on your most personal and inner self. My theoretical approach is client-centered, focusing on the counseling relationship and self-exploration. The counseling relationship is the most important part of the process to me because it models what unconditional acceptance and authenticity feels like. I offer a holistic perspective to wellness, working with you to consider self-care routines and mindfulness practices.
I specialize in working with children as well as adults processing childhood trauma. How we were taught to relate as children can make it hard to form long-term and intimate relationships as adults. I want to help you learn to be vulnerable and trust others again. I love working with parents and offering skills to connect to your children in new ways.
We are all the sum of so many moments, many we didn’t have control over. Our anger, defenses, anxieties, and self-doubt are the product of deep wounds and unmet needs. It can be hard work, and often it feels overwhelming or even unfair as we unpack wounded pieces of ourselves. I want you to feel empowered to take control of your life back.
I have 14+ years of clinical experience with outpatient/inpatient clients, crisis work, and supervising other therapists. Working with adults clients around trauma, self-exploration, life transitions, spiritual or existential issues, and grief/loss. I bring a sense of humor and an easy, informal approach to this deep and meaningful work.
My primary focus is working with adolescents, families, and adults, though I have a range of experience working with people of all ages and many different demographics. In particular, I have a strong background in working with at-risk youth, kinship caregivers, and foster/adoptive families. I also have a background of working with young adults transitioning to independent living, as well as adults of all ages.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado, and have been practicing as a therapist since 2022. Prior to this, I worked with youth, adults, and families in a variety of case management roles, including in schools, domestic violence shelters, shelters for those without housing, and families experiencing various systems involvement. This has given me an understanding of the many challenges life can bring, and equipped me with the tools to support you in navigating various barriers and difficulties.
