Hi! I am a counselor who earned her degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021. I have worked at inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient services.
I've been a licensed LMHC since 2015, and I love the work I do. Have Master's degree. I have worked for non-profits and for-profit organizations. I specialize in anxiety and depression, stress, relationships and more.
Spending more than 30 years providing mental health care and gaining experience in various challenging healthcare settings has afforded me the ability to provide my clients with vast knowledge and expertise needed to address life's many issues. My experience includes forensic social work, hospice and bereavement care, sexual compulsions and substance dependence as well as extensive experience with trauma resolution and suicide prevention. My passion is helping clients reprocess past trauma and find the inner strength that they possess as survivors of traumatic experiences.
I am trained in a range of therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral, Trauma-Informed, Dialectical Behavioral therapies, but do not use a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. I work with clients on challenges related to depression, anxiety, loss, adjustment, life changes, trauma, family dynamics.
I have my Ph.D. from the USC, where I also completed a graduate program in Gerontology. My clinical training and work is focused on adolescents, students, adults, couples/families, and seniors.
Morgan Shope has over 10 years of experience treating adults and couples. She believes in a collaborative therapeutic relationship in which the client and therapist work together to set goals, prioritizing relief, progress, and impact. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and Morgan believes in tailoring sessions to meet clients' individual preferences and needs.
