My name is J.J. Mull -- I'm a clinical social worker and therapist in private practice. I trained and Smith College School for Social Work and received advanced training in psychoanalytic treatment at Cambridge Health Alliance through Harvard Department of Psychiatry. Since finishing my training, I have worked in a wide range of settings with people struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, substance use disorders, significant trauma, and many other issues. In addition to my clinical work, I am a writer, poet, and researcher and have been a professor in the Masters in Social Work program at Smith College for 4 years.
"Empowering you toward lasting growth through empathy and action.
I strive to create a supportive environment where individuals feel safe processing life’s hurdles. Whether you are navigating stress, crisis, or multicultural concerns, I provide a safe space to develop coping skills and find your footing.
I deeply value diversity and operate from a foundation of inclusion and compassion. My mission is to help you feel seen, heard, and equipped to reach your goals."
Seeking help can feel overwhelming, and finding the right provider matters. I provide a warm, welcoming space where clients can feel heard, respected, and supported. I worked in community health for several years as a bilingual nurse practitioner and place great value in providing culturally competent care.
If you are feeling lost, confused, and unhappy with the direction life is going, let's work together to address what is holding you back. "Finding My Potential" is something you are seeking; then let's work on ways to cope with challenging thoughts, identify skills you can use to move forward, look holistically at habits/lifestyle, and develop a road map that gets you on the path you were meant for. It is important to note that this approach is based on a treatment session connected to techniques and actions you will do between sessions. I look forward to working with you.
I have a broad background in therapy, having managed and worked as a therapist in a variety of services. As an individual therapist, I have done the most work with teenagers, children, and young adults. I have provided individual counseling to adults, families, and couples. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, with a commitment to outcomes.

I currently practice in a federally qualified health center.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, and other mood-related conditions. My approach is patient-centered and collaborative.
