It is my goal to empower individuals to recognize and embrace the strengths that live within them. I utilize evidence-based techniques to aid individuals with living a life filled with healthy relationships, self-confidence, and joy. I provide clients with strategies to combat life stressors, anxiety and depression.
Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work in community-based settings where I learned the skills to help clients overcome fixed mindsets and develop healthy behaviors to succeed both emotionally and socially.
Later in my career, I led new mom’s support groups to help mothers navigate this unique time of life in a supportive and non-judgmental community. I currently specialize in working with maternal mental health where I aid mothers in exploring many topics including a mother’s new normal, changing relationships with her partner, the baby blues as well as postpartum depression/ anxiety/ OCD, adjusting to returning to work, introducing a new sibling to the family, navigating new dynamics with older children and much more.
As a psychotherapist, I have had the privilege to work with individuals who are brave enough to openly discuss difficult life transitions and learn the tools to deal with them. It is truly inspiring to witness the tenacity of individuals who take the time to be the best they can be.
I believe my intuition and good listening skills as well as authentic ability to hold a non-judgmental space for clients are where my strengths lie. It is in this environment that clients have the chance to tell their story and learn how to realize their healthiest self. Once people are given the opportunity to express themselves with a caring and supportive therapist, change can lead to revelations that can lead to renewal.
I have been trained in expressive arts therapy and is a certified gestalt therapist. I utilizes the arts according to each person’s abilities to imagine and develop body awareness. My eclectic approach suits people who seek to find themselves in mental health. As a blind Japanese immigrant, I work especially well with differently-abled people and Pan Asians.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I specialize in helping children and families navigate the challenges that come with trauma, anxiety, and life stressors. Trauma can significantly impact daily life, affecting relationships, emotional well-being, and the ability to cope with everyday challenges. The effects can show up in ways such as difficulty focusing, heightened stress responses, or struggles with self-esteem, often creating a barrier to leading a fulfilling life.
With over 7 years of experience, I work with children ages 5 and up, providing tailored support to help them process their experiences and develop healthier coping strategies. Additionally, I offer caregiver support, helping parents and guardians strengthen their parenting skills and foster effective communication and connection with their children. I believe that when families are supported, they can thrive together, and I am here to help guide families toward healing and growth.
I am a lover of learning new things. I have BS in health administration and a MS in marriage and family therapy. I believe in second chances, taking assitance when you need and thinking in a strength based way is important. I am also, a mother, wife and avid crafter in my spear time. I come from an enormous carribbean family. Lastly, I am a dog lover and love socializing with people who have similar interest as me.
