My expertise includes, but is not limited to anxiety, depression, anger, body image, ADHD, complex trauma, intimacy, sexuality, grief, relationship, attachment, identity and life changes. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally competent, trauma sensitive, body positive, and sex positive. My commitment is to help you to achieve balance, clarity and liberation.
I provide telehealth both in English and Mandarin Chinese.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have worked with many trauma survivors. I began trauma focused work as a counselor at a domestic violence shelter working with women and then began working with a wide range of crime victims. I began using EMDR in my practice to have better efficacy in treatment and to accelerate the healing process. I spent three years working on a DBT team delivering comprehensive DBT and facilitated DBT groups with adults, adolescents and parents.
Thank you for taking the time to consider me as your new therapist. It takes a lot of courage to start something new. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York. I earned a both my BA in Psychology and my MA in Mental Health Counseling at Adelphi University. I currently serve the community as a Director of Behavioral Health in a major health system. I have worked with a wide variety of populations across multiple settings including higher education, hospital and private practice. I have been fortunate in my career to serve many specialized populations including neurodivergence, severe and persistent acute mental illness, caregivers, geriatrics, and perinatal clients. I also enjoy working with couples. I do not believe in a one size fits all model. Therapy has the potential to be a transformative experience. I have found people realize the benefit of therapy when they learn how to communicate and advocate for themselves compassionately, practice setting better boundaries, love themselves and others more fully, start to listen to their feelings as teachers and compasses pointing to important lessons, and when they begin to trust themselves as they are, to live authentically and unapologetically. Therapy with me is informed by Social Justice, Allyship, Anti-Racism and is Affirming of all Identities, including, Neurodivergent, Sexual, and Gender.
